MF Chat Commands

FlashChat Commands

There are several command-line options that users and moderators can use for advanced functionality. These options do not exist in the FlashChat interface, but they are available to you by typing them directly into the message input box. These commands are "IRC-like" since they begin with the backslash. The following table summaries these options:

Command	Description
/away	Sets user as away. Typing this command again sets user as "here".
/here	Sets user as here. This reverses the "away" and "busy" states.
/busy	Sets user as busy. Typing this command again sets user as "here".
/back ##	Shows the last ## entries of the room's chat, including any chat text that was present before arrival to the room.
/backtime ##	Shows the last ## minutes of the room's chat, including any chat text that was present before arrival to the room.
/clear	Clears the chat screen. This only affects your screen, not the screen of other users.
/me <action>	Issues an IRC-like "action" to the chat. "/me" will be changed to your user name, and the text in <action> will appear as a system message. For example: "/me is thinking" would translate to "Joe is thinking".
/join <room>	Switches the user to <room>. For example: "/join The Lounge"
/part, /quit, /logout	Logout of the chat.
/version	Shows which version of the chat you are using.
/invite <user>	Invites "user" to the room that you are currently in.
/ignore <user>	Ignore "user".
/sos <msg>	Alerts Moderator in current room and if none in current Room alerts all Moderators Alert with standard text plus messagetext which is optional.
/names	Shows a list of all user names in all Public Rooms.
/showignores	Shows a list of users ignored by 'this user' and also which other users are ignoring 'this user'
/unignore	Removes 'this user' ignore of user with optional message to user message is sent to user only if user is logged in to chat
/names	Shows a list of all user names in all Public Rooms.
/list	Shows all MF Specific commands.
/? or /help	All other available commands
Moderator Commands
/broadcast <msg>	Only available to moderators. This broadcasts a message to all users in all rooms. For example, "/broadcast Hello everyone!"
/kick or /boot <user>	Only available to moderators. This kicks "user" from the room.
/ban <user>	Only available to moderators. Bans "user" from the chat.
/banip <user>	Only available to moderators. Bans the IP address of the user from all chat activity.
/gagX <user>	Only available to moderators. Gags the user for X minutes. For example, /gag5 joe. If the user's name has more than one word, then it must be enclosed with quotes. For example: /gag5 "Joe Shmoe"
/alert <user> <msg>	Only available to moderators. Sends a popup alert to the user. If the user's name has more than one word, then it must be enclosed with quotes.
/roomalert <msg>	Same as /alert, but sends the message to all users in the room.
/chatalert <msg>	Same as /alert, but sends the message to all users in all rooms.
/showbans	Shows a list of current bans with ban creator and ban level incl ban creation time and hours left of each ban
/unban <msg>	Unbans user with optional message to user Unbans both user logged in (banned from room) and users not logged in like banned from chat or banned by IP
/reban user	Restarts current ban for user ie sets ban creation time to current time If user = @ rebans all banned users
/kickout user	Kicks user out from chat without banning user If user = @ kicks out all users from all rooms except moderators
/kickroom	Kicks all users in a room except moderators Moderator must be in the room to kick users from
/rooms	Shows a list of all Room names incl Public/Private and Permanent/Temporary
/who user	Displays all login info for user incl IP and host name (no profile page popup)
/move user	Moves user from any room to current room where moderator is Like Invite but without user acceptance Moves user to room even if user is banned from this room
/status	Display summary status of number of messages and PM's, Ignores and bans, rooms etc
/addbot botname	Creates a new bot.
/startbot botname	Makes the bot enter the chatroom (Must be created first).
/killbot "botname"	Quotes required if botname is more than 1 word. Removes bot from chat.

MF Custom Chat Commands

Because of the growing number of commands, this will now get its very own page. "/list" will also be condensed as many of them are no longer widely used. The commands in green are displayed only to yourself.

/daysleft	The number of days left for a specified event.. it changes afterwards
/state	Activity for the chat as a whole including all rooms
/stats	Your accumulated chat hours, messages and talkativity (messages per minute)
